When using for the first time of this Corten steel kitchen fireplace Madamm, it is very important that you start with a small fire and continue to stoke the fire after 25 minutes. The heavy baking tray will become hotter at the bottom than at the top. This temperature difference will cause the plate to become hollow. After the first use, the baking tray has "settled" and this procedure is no longer necessary.
The cooking unit will function best if it has been used once or twice and the oil has burned into the plate. Cooking on the griddle will be easier after this 'burning in' and protects the griddle against rusting when not in use. It is best to fry with vegetable oil with a high degree of combustion, for example sunflower oil.

After about 25-30 minutes of firing, the baking tray will have reached a temperature of 275-300°C on the inner edge. When the fire has started, you can start oiling the baking tray, dose a little more oil where you are going to bake. The temperature is slightly lower on the outer edge, so that you can switch between roasting and keeping warm. When the baking tray is heated, it will become slightly concave. When the baking tray cools down it will straighten completely.

Cleaning the kitchen fireplace is actually not necessary. The cooking oil and leftover food can be put into the fire with a spatula after use. The baking tray can be cleaned with a damp cloth before use. The kitchen fireplace can withstand wind and weather and does not require any further maintenance.
